The Cat Who Sat on Everything
🔊 Read to me Opens Story Time: the words light up as the story is read aloud.
Noodle was a big, fluffy, orange cat, and Noodle had a hobby. He liked to sit on things. Not chairs. Not cushions. Things that were definitely not for sitting.
When Dad opened the newspaper, Noodle sat on the newspaper. Crinkle, crinkle. "Noodle, I'm reading that!" said Dad.
When Grandma started knitting, Noodle sat on the wool. When Lily did her homework, Noodle sat right on her spelling words, so the only word she could see was "CAT." Which, to be fair, she spelled perfectly.
When Mum packed a suitcase for a trip, guess who was sitting inside it, purring like a motor? "Noodle, you can't come to Aunt Rosie's in a suitcase!"
One day, the family put a brand-new cat bed on the floor. It was round and soft, with a fluffy blanket. "Here, Noodle," they said. "This is just for you."
Noodle sniffed the bed. He walked around it. He looked at it from the left. He looked at it from the right.
Then he climbed into the cardboard box the bed came in and sat there, looking very proud. "Meow!"
Everyone laughed so much that Dad dropped his newspaper. Pop! went the bubble wrap as Noodle's tail landed on it. And the box became Noodle's favorite seat forever.
