The Five Senses Safari

"Today," said Teacher Tabby, "we are going on a senses safari. Cats are very good at noticing things. Let's use all five of our senses!"
"First, seeing," she said. The kittens looked around the garden with their big round eyes. "I see a red flower!" said Chip. "I see a fluffy cloud," said Lola. "I see a butterfly!" said Rumble.
"Next, hearing." Everyone closed their eyes and swiveled their ears. "I hear birds singing," said Lola. "I hear the wind in the trees," said Chip. "I hear my tummy rumbling," said Rumble. Everyone giggled.
"Now, smelling." The kittens sniffed with their pink noses. "I smell roses," said Lola. "I smell fresh grass," said Chip. Rumble sniffed the air. "I smell... lunch!"
"Touching," said Teacher Tabby. The kittens felt things with their paws. A smooth, cool pebble. A soft, fuzzy leaf. A prickly pinecone. "Ouch," said Chip. "Gently!" said Teacher Tabby.
"And finally," she said, "tasting." She brought out a little bowl of fresh water for each kitten and a crunchy treat. "Crunchy and fishy!" said Rumble happily. "That's my favorite sense," he added.
"Well done, everyone," said Teacher Tabby. "Seeing, hearing, smelling, touching and tasting. Five senses to explore the world."
On the way home, Lola noticed something. "Our whiskers help us feel things too," she said. "Maybe cats have a sixth sense: whisker-sense!" Teacher Tabby smiled and purred. "Maybe we do."
