In the kittens' classroom, there was a big chart on the wall with pictures: a sun, a cloud, a raindrop, a snowflake and a swirl for wind. "Every morning," said Miss Whiskers, "one of you will check the weather."

On Monday, it was Puddles's turn. She looked out of the window. The sky was bright blue, and the sun was shining. "Sunny!" she said, and put a sticker next to the sun.

On Tuesday, the sky was grey and fluffy. "Cloudy," said Puddles. "The sun is hiding behind the clouds, like a cat behind a curtain."

On Wednesday, she heard tapping on the window. Drip, drop, drip. "Rainy!" she said. The rain made the garden shiny, and the worms came out to wiggle.

On Thursday, the trees were bending and the leaves were flying past the window. Whoosh! "Windy!" said Puddles, holding her whiskers so they wouldn't blow away, even though she was inside.

On Friday, she looked out and gasped. Everything was white. "Snowy!" she cried. Everyone rushed to the window to see the soft white flakes floating down.

"Well done, Puddles," said Miss Whiskers. "Now, let's look at our chart. What kind of weather did we have the most this week?" The kittens counted. "One of each!" they said. "What a busy week for the weather!"

That afternoon, they all went outside to play in the snow. Puddles made a tiny snow-kitten and gave it a sticker of a sun. "So it won't feel cold," she said, with a happy purr.
