Domino was a black-and-white kitten who wanted to learn how to count. "Let's count the things we find," said his mother. "Counting is everywhere."

"One," said Domino, pointing at the sun. "There's only one sun." "That's right," said his mother.

"Two," he said, looking at his mother's ears. "You have two ears. And so do I!" He wiggled his own.

"Three," said Domino, as three birds landed on the fence and sang a little tune. "Four!" he said, counting his own paws. One, two, three, four. He tapped each one.

"Five," he said, looking at five tiny fish in the garden pond. They swam in circles, and one blew a bubble. Pop! "Six," he said, counting six daisies in a row.

"Seven, eight, nine," he counted, as three snails slid along the path one by one. They were very slow, so he had lots of time to count them.

Domino looked around for ten. He couldn't find anything. Then he looked at the whiskers on one side of his mother's face. "One, two, three..." He counted all the way to... twelve! "Even better than ten!" he cried.

His mother laughed and gave a big purr. "You're a counting champion," she said. Domino puffed out his chest. "Now let's count how many treats I get for dinner!"
