Tick-Tock, Cat O'Clock

In the hallway stood a tall wooden clock, and next to it sat Professor Paws, a wise old cat with glasses. "Today," he told the kittens, "you will learn to tell the time."
"A clock has two hands," said Professor Paws. "The short hand tells the hour. The long hand tells the minutes." The kittens stared at the clock. Tick, tock, tick, tock.
"When the long hand points straight up to the twelve," said the professor, "it's something o'clock. Look where the short hand is pointing." The kittens looked. The short hand pointed at the seven.
"Seven o'clock!" said little Mo. "Correct!" said Professor Paws. "At seven o'clock in the morning, it's time for breakfast." All the kittens meowed hungrily.
They watched the clock all day. At twelve o'clock, both hands pointed straight up. "Lunch time!" said the kittens. At three o'clock, the short hand pointed at the three. "Play time!" They chased a ball around the garden.
At six o'clock, they had dinner. At seven o'clock in the evening, Professor Paws said, "Bath time." The kittens groaned, but they washed their faces with their paws anyway.
At eight o'clock, the big clock chimed. Dong, dong, dong, dong, dong, dong, dong, dong. "Eight dongs means eight o'clock," said Mo, counting on his paws. "And eight o'clock means..."
"Bedtime," said Professor Paws, with a great big yawn. "Even professors need their sleep." And all the kittens curled up, listening to the clock go tick, tock, tick, tock, until they fell asleep.
