Juno Says Sorry
🔊 Read to me Opens Story Time: the words light up as the story is read aloud.
Juno and Pip were building the tallest tower of blocks ever. It was taller than their basket, taller than the chair, almost as tall as the window.
"Let me put the last block on," said Pip. "No, I want to!" said Juno, and she reached for it too fast. Her paw bumped the tower. It wobbled. And crash! The blocks tumbled all over the floor.
Pip's eyes filled with tears. "You knocked it down!" he cried, and he ran out of the room with his tail drooping.
Juno sat among the blocks. Her tummy felt funny, heavy and twisty. She knew she had been too grabby, and now her friend was sad.
She padded into the garden and found Pip under the apple tree. She sat down next to him, not too close. For a moment, she didn't know what to say. The birds chirped in the branches above.
Then she took a deep breath. "Pip, I'm sorry," she said. "I was grabby, and I knocked down our tower. That wasn't fair. You should have put the last block on."
Pip sniffed. He looked at Juno. "Thank you for saying sorry," he said. "It's okay. I know it was an accident." Then he gave a small smile. "Do you want to build another one?"
They went back inside and built a new tower, even taller than the first one. And when it was time for the last block, Juno held the tower steady, and Pip put it on top. "Teamwork!" they cheered, and purred together.
