Pip was the smallest kitten on Willow Lane, but she had the biggest ideas. One morning, she found a paper boat floating in the little stream at the bottom of the garden.

"Where are you going, little boat?" she asked. The boat bobbed and turned, as if it was saying, "Follow me!"

So Pip followed. She trotted along the bank, past the tall reeds and a sleepy frog on his lily pad. "Good morning, Mr. Frog," she said politely. The frog blinked one eye.

The boat floated under a little wooden bridge. Pip ran over the top and waited on the other side. Out came the boat, spinning happily. Some birds sang from the willow tree, cheering it on.

Then the boat got stuck on a pebble. It tipped this way and that. Pip reached out one careful paw and gave it a tiny push. Off it went again!

At last, the stream widened into a calm, round pond. The boat drifted into the middle and stopped, resting in a patch of sunlight. Pip sat down at the edge, very pleased.

"You made it," she said. A gentle breeze rippled the water, and the boat gave a little wobble, like a wave goodbye.

Pip walked home with muddy paws and a happy heart. That night she dreamed she was the captain of a paper boat, sailing all the way to the moon.
