The Snowcat with Sideways Ears

When the first snow fell, Fuzz pressed his nose to the window so hard that his tongue left a little mark on the glass. "Cola! It's snowing!"
They raced outside. The snow was soft and squeaky under their paws. Cola's dark paws left neat little prints. Fuzz's paws left messy, zigzag ones, because he was too excited to walk straight.
"Let's build a snowcat," said Cola. They rolled a big snowball for the body. They rolled a smaller one for the head. Then they patted on two ears.
"Make them stick out sideways," said Fuzz. "Like mine!" So Cola made two big ears that pointed left and right. Fuzz added a little snowy tongue sticking out. "Perfect," he said.
Cola found two blue pebbles for the eyes, just like hers. Then she used a twig to draw tiny eyelashes. "Now it looks like both of us," she giggled.
Fuzz took off his red collar and put it around the snowcat's neck. The bell went jingle in the cold air. A gust of wind blew a sprinkle of snow onto the snowcat's head like a little hat.
"What shall we call it?" asked Cola. Fuzz thought. "Fuzzcola," he said. "Colafuzz," said Cola. They laughed and called it Snowy instead.
When their paws got too cold, they went inside, took back the collar and curled up by the radiator. Through the window, Snowy smiled at them with its sideways ears, and they purred back.
