Ten Sleepy Kittens

Ten little kittens were playing in a row, tumbling and bouncing and jumping to and fro. But the moon was rising, and the sky was dark blue, and one little kitten said, "I'm sleepy, aren't you?" Yawn! Then there were nine.
Nine little kittens chased a ball of yarn. One curled up in a cozy corner of the barn. Then there were eight.
Eight little kittens looked up at the stars. One fell asleep dreaming about rockets to Mars. Then there were seven.
Seven little kittens drank a bowl of milk. One snuggled into a blanket made of silk. Then there were six.
Six little kittens heard the soft rain. One closed his eyes by the window pane. Then there were five.
Five little kittens said goodnight to the moon. Four little kittens hummed a sleepy tune. Three little kittens snuggled side by side. Two little kittens stretched their paws out wide.
One little kitten was the last one awake. She looked at her brothers and sisters, and gave her whiskers a shake. "Goodnight," she whispered, and lay down in the heap, and started to purr, and then she was asleep.
Ten little kittens, all fast asleep, curled up together in one warm furry heap. Shh. Goodnight, kittens. Goodnight, you.
